1. What is the best opening line to a book you've read?
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." From A Tale of Two Cites by Charles Dickens. The Dickens quote is actually in the text of The Schumann Frequency, page 46. A Tale of Two Cities is truly my favourite book, but it can be hard-going.
2. Describe for us the place where you wrote the majority of your book.
When I got serious, I rented a house at Elwood Beach, overlooking the water. The three-storey apartment was empty except for my desk on level two, my computer + printer, comfy leather chair and ten reams of Reflex paper. I wrote approximately 6 hours per day.
3. What is your earliest memory involving books?
The first book I remember really loving was The Twenty-one Balloons by William Pene du Bois. It was compulsory reading in the sixth grade. A fantastic book. The way I felt when I read that book is the way I always hope I am going to feel when I read something good.
4. What is one book you always recommend to your friends and why?
Three Fates by Nora Roberts. I know what you're thinking: Nora Roberts! The romance novelist! Yes, it is that Nora Roberts, but Three Fates is an excellent, suspenseful, intelligent adventure. It's an easy read, humorous, and the perfect novel for someone who wants a page-turner. Read it, you'll like it.
5. If they were writing your biography, what would be the last line?
"But in the end, regardless of his many successes, what mattered most to him was his family."
